Europe LAB
Understand Europe, get involved, and turn ideas into action.
What we do
Europe LAB is the education, citizenship and European participation hub of the CHECK-IN Association. It brings the European Union closer to young people, schools, organisations and communities through non-formal education activities, training, debate and the development of initiatives. Its aim is to help people understand how Europe works, learn about their rights, take part in decision-making and turn ideas into actions that have an impact on the community.
Education about Europe
Europe LAB organizes sessions, workshops, and activities covering the history, functioning, and institutions of the European Union, European values and rights, citizenship, cultural diversity, and European priorities. Activities may also address Erasmus+, the European Solidarity Corps, sustainability, inclusion, intercultural skills, and the impact of European policies on daily life. Content is presented through games, debates, simulations, quizzes, group activities, and other participatory methods.
European participation and citizenship
Europe LAB creates spaces where young people can express their views, debate European issues, and participate in developing proposals. Activities may include debates on the future of Europe, European Parliament simulations, dialogues with decision-makers, youth consultations, idea labs, civic engagement campaigns, and sessions on elections and democracy. Initiatives developed by young people themselves are also supported, enabling them to identify local needs and create solutions for their communities.
Media literacy and digital citizenship
Europe LAB promotes activities focused on media literacy, critical thinking, digital security, and combating disinformation. Participants learn to analyze sources, distinguish facts from opinions, recognize manipulated content, and understand the influence of digital media on democracy and civic participation.
Europe LAB in Schools
Schools and educational organizations can request sessions tailored to the age, interests, and needs of the participants. Topics may include European institutions, citizenship, cultural diversity, mobility, youth participation, sustainability, media literacy, and European competencies. Activities can take place at schools, at CHECK-IN’s facilities, or online, and can be integrated into thematic weeks, clubs, educational projects, or school events.
Ideas and Projects Laboratory
Europe LAB supports young people and organizations in transforming ideas into local or European initiatives. During these labs, participants identify needs, define objectives, develop activities, and analyze opportunities to bring their proposals to fruition. This support may include guidance on European programs, project idea development, partner searches, team building, and the use of non-formal education tools.
Support for organizations
Associations, municipalities, schools, social institutions, and other entities can request training, activities, or support to strengthen their European dimension. Europe LAB can collaborate on organizing events, campaigns, debates, civic engagement activities, sessions on European programs, and initiatives aimed at young people and the community.
Eurodesk at Europe LAB
Eurodesk is the youth information service integrated into Europe LAB. While Europe LAB focuses on education, citizenship, and European participation, Eurodesk specializes in disseminating information about and researching mobility opportunities. The CHECK-IN Association has been a Eurodesk Multiplier since 2017, providing free, verified information on exchanges, volunteering, training courses, grants, internships, employment, DiscoverEU, and other European opportunities. Europe LAB Initiatives
Europe LAB can develop European clubs, meetings with project participants, debates, simulations, exhibitions, campaigns, mobile activities, and community events. It may also foster a network of youth ambassadors, a mobile Europe LAB to reach schools and communities, and a library of games, publications, and educational resources about Europe.
For whom?
Europe LAB is aimed at young people, students, teachers, educators, youth workers, and professionals, as well as associations, schools, universities, municipalities, social institutions, and organizations interested in citizenship and European projects. It is also open to anyone wishing to better understand Europe, participate in initiatives, or develop an idea with a community impact.
