International Volunteering
Live an unique volunteer experience in Beja with us
What we do
The European Solidarity Corps is a European Union programme that enables young people aged 18 to 30 to participate in volunteering projects in Portugal or other countries. It is an opportunity to contribute to a community, develop skills, experience different cultures, and take part in an experience with a positive personal and professional impact.
Whats is included
Participation in a European Solidarity Corps project includes different forms of support. Before departure, you will receive information about all the available support through the volunteering agreement.
International Travels
The programme provides a travel contribution for the journey between your place of residence and the project location. The amount is calculated according to the distance. You should not book or purchase any travel without prior confirmation.
Accomodation
The accommodation may be private or shared with other volunteers. The accommodation conditions, location, and house rules should be communicated before departure.
Food allowance
Food allowance isprovided through through pocket money.
Local Transportation
The host organisation should provide the local transport needed for you to participate in the activities. Depending on the project, Check-IN may provide public transport pass, a bicycle, or another suitable solution.
Insurance
During the project, you will be covered by insurance. In international projects, the programme’s insurance normally acts as complementary coverage to the European Health Insurance Card. The insurance has specific conditions, limits, and exclusions. Before departure, you will receive information about the coverage and the procedures to follow in case of illness, accident, or emergency.
Language support and training
You may have access to language support to learn or improve the language used in the project, through the Online Language Support platform or other solutions organised by the project. You may also take part in pre-departure training, on-arrival training, and assessment sessions during the activity, depending on the duration and type of project.
Support and mentoring
You will have a person responsible for supervising your tasks and a mentor to support your integration, well-being, and learning process. CHECK-IN, as the sending organisation, will stay in contact with you throughout the experience and can provide support if any questions or difficulties arise.
Pocket Money
You will receive a pocket money allowance for your personal expenses. This support is separate from the amount provided for food and accommodation. The daily amount is determined according to the country where the project takes place and may be paid weekly or monthly.
Apoio para necessidades específicas
Additional support may be provided to ensure equal participation. This support may include enhanced supervision or mentoring; support related to disabilities or health conditions; accessibility adaptations; support from an accompanying person; visas and residence permits; vaccinations, medical certificates, or other mandatory documents; individual preparation; and additional support during the project. These forms of support should be identified and agreed upon with the organisations involved before departure.
Recognition of the experience
At the end of the project, you will receive a participation certificate and may use Youthpass to identify and present the skills and competences developed during the project.
