About the project
Old G New G (Old Games for New Generations) is a 15-month project dedicated to promoting the value of traditional games and sports, with particular attention to cultural practices that are less familiar to younger generations. The initiative involves young people aged 15 to 20, encouraging them to research traditional games and sports from their communities and cultures, drawing on local sources and knowledge.
The project aims to bring young people closer to the cultural heritage of their communities by promoting the discovery, documentation and sharing of traditional practices between Portugal and Türkiye. Young people’s active participation enables them to collect and organise information about games and sports that are part of their local identity, while also developing research, communication, collaboration and intercultural skills.
The information collected during the research will be organised and used during the mobility activities, allowing participants to present, discover and experience different traditional practices. As a result, an e-book will be created with information about the identified practices, complemented by links to visual content and video recordings of the activities carried out.
Game cards will also be developed to facilitate the distribution, transport and use of the games by other young people and organisations. In this way, the project aims to ensure that the knowledge collected can be shared and used by new generations, contributing to the preservation and continuation of traditional games and sports.
