About the project
mPow is a project that aims to strengthen support for young people facing mental health problems, social difficulties or challenges related to education, employment and complex life situations. The initiative brings together organisations with experience in working with young people in vulnerable situations, combining knowledge and expertise to develop a new community empowerment approach called Empowering Communities. The project recognises that challenges related to mental health and social inequality can limit young people’s participation, confidence and ability to achieve their personal and professional goals. In this context, mPow develops tools to help youth workers and youth organisations better understand these challenges and create more inclusive responses centred on young people’s needs. The approach aims to strengthen skills, autonomy and a sense of belonging, creating environments where young people can recognise their abilities, identify available resources and find pathways towards achieving their goals. Among the main resources developed are a handbook on building empowering communities, two training modules and a website featuring a self-reflection test. These materials support professionals in developing their practices and encourage reflection and empowerment processes among young people. In this way, mPow contributes to creating more inclusive communities that are better equipped to support young people in vulnerable situations.
