About the project
The BETSEE project emerged from the need to strengthen environmental education in youth work and to address the difficulties faced by disadvantaged young people in developing personal and professional skills. It brought together organisations from France, Ireland, Italy and Portugal, specialised in youth education and experienced in working with different target groups. The project promoted the exchange of good practices in the fields of ecology and the green sharing economy through non-formal learning activities and training. Educators deepened their knowledge of environmental practices and the sharing economy, acquiring creative tools to support young people in vulnerable situations. At the same time, young people participated in practical and collaborative activities that fostered entrepreneurship, creativity, communication, digital skills, teamwork and critical thinking. The approach connected environmental awareness with preparation for the labour market, helping participants identify opportunities and develop more sustainable solutions for their communities. BETSEE completed the learning pathway initiated in the partner countries, strengthened cooperation between organisations and contributed to increasing young people's opportunities for social and professional integration. The methodologies and experiences shared remained available as a reference for other youth workers and educators in formal and non-formal contexts.

Activities
Project Management
April 2021 to November 2022 - France, Portugal, Ireland and Italy - Transnational meetings: 4 transnational partner meetings were held to ensure the overall coordination, monitoring and follow-up of the project's implementation. These meetings made it possible to plan activities, review the progress of the results, distribute tasks, validate work stages and ensure coordination between partners in the four countries involved.
1st Study Visit
April 2021 - France - Study visit: Observation of local practices in ecological education and the sharing economy within youth organisations in the Paris region. The activity provided an opportunity to learn about methodologies used with young people from the suburbs, collect good practices for the Green E-Manual and promote the exchange of experiences between partners.
2nd Study Visit
September 2021 - Portugal - Study visit: Observation of practices in environmental education, the sharing economy and soft skills development among young people with fewer opportunities and migrants. The activity contributed to collecting local methodologies, supporting the development of the Green E-Manual and strengthening learning between partners.
3rd Study Visit
April 2022 - Italy - Study visit: Visit to organisations working with young people in rural areas and disadvantaged women, focusing on ecological education, resource sharing and the acquisition of social skills. The activity made it possible to collect practical examples to be integrated into the Green E-Manual.
Learning, Teaching and Training Activity
September 2022 - Lisbon, Portugal - Training course: the activity brought together 15 participants, including youth workers and young people from the partners' target groups. The training strengthened skills in ecological education, the sharing economy and soft skills such as creativity, communication, teamwork and critical thinking. The LTTA also made it possible to validate the Green E-Manual through feedback from young people, contributing to the improvement of its content and methodologies.
4th Study Visit
November 2022 - Ireland - Study visit: Learning about local environmental education initiatives and entrepreneurship skills development in the rural community of Virginia and surrounding areas. The activity supported the final reflection on the project's results, the adaptation of the Green E-Manual and the identification of opportunities for continuation.
BETSEE Manual
April 2021 to October 2022 - France, Portugal, Italy and Ireland - Manual: Creation of a BETSEE project booklet bringing together and presenting the main good practices, methodologies and learning related to ecological education, the sharing economy and youth work. The material was developed with contributions from the partners, based on local research, study visits and activities carried out throughout the project.
Multiplier Event
October 2022 - France, Portugal, Italy and Ireland - Dissemination sessions: 4 sessions were held involving 60 participants from the four countries to present the main resources and methodologies developed. The sessions made it possible to share results, promote the use of the DT Toolbox and encourage the transfer of practices to different educational and youth work contexts.
