Cercibeja’s mission is not to make a profit, but to promote social solidarity, education and the development of support activities in various areas of intervention for people with disabilities or socio-professional integration problems, with a view to defending their individual and citizenship rights, particularly with regard to promoting the right to equal opportunities.
In the spirit mentioned above, the cooperative’s main objectives are:
ACTIVITIES:
The ESTAR Association’s mission is to promote initiatives aimed at immediate intervention in situations of risk in the context of social protection. Its primary objective is to guarantee referrals and social support in processes of integration, insertion and autonomy. Its work focuses on vulnerable groups, offering support for immediate needs arising from risk situations, through a first-line service available 24 hours a day. The association seeks to support individuals and families in preventing and/or repairing problems caused or aggravated by situations of social exclusion. In certain cases, it also intervenes in emergency and risk situations. ESTAR’s differential lies in its capacity for immediate response and intervention aimed at people’s well-being, with a proactive and continuous approach. In short, the association acts in crisis situations, seeking to solve problems quickly and effectively, with the aim of restoring the immediate comfort and well-being of the people and families involved.
ACTIVITIES:
Volunteers can collaborate with the ESTAR Association, contributing to its mission of promoting the well-being and social inclusion of people in vulnerable situations.
These activities value solidarity and respect for human dignity and human rights and believe in the importance of promoting a just and equitable society, where pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality. It reinforces solidarity between peoples, respecting their respective cultures and traditions, and aspires to the creation of a community in which responsibilities are shared and people support each other.
The volunteer will have the opportunity to get involved in interactive and engaging educational programs aimed at children between the ages of 3 and 6. This includes the development and implementation of dynamic, playful and sensory activities designed to promote holistic learning and the integral development of children.
In addition, the volunteer will be encouraged to create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment where children can actively explore, experiment and learn. This may involve organizing educational games, art and craft activities, music, storytelling, and other sensory experiences that stimulate the children’s senses and creativity.
The focus will be on activities that promote the children’s cognitive, emotional, social and physical development, while providing them with fun and enjoyment during the learning process. The volunteer will have the opportunity to work closely with other educators and professionals to ensure that the activities are adapted to the individual needs and pace of development of each child.
In addition, the volunteer will be encouraged to cultivate a positive and supportive relationship with the children, helping to build their self-esteem, confidence and communication skills. By providing a stimulating and welcoming learning environment, the volunteer will play a vital role in supporting the healthy growth and development of children in this crucial age group.
The proposed volunteering activity aims to empower the local community and volunteers through solidarity and cooperation, strengthening the skills and competencies of the beneficiaries, which include people of all ages from the community (children, young people and stakeholders), as well as the volunteers themselves. The main focus will be on promoting and providing information about the ESC (European Solidarity Corps), Erasmus+ and other international opportunities offered by the European Union, as well as sharing the volunteers’ cultures.
The volunteers will engage in outreach activities in schools and universities in Beja, aiming to promote the values of the European Union, highlighting their own experience as participants in international programs and the importance of youth participation and active citizenship. They will also share their cultures, perspectives and differences from their home countries, promoting multicultural dialog and tolerance of diversity.
Given the demographic diversity of the city of Beja, with many rural areas and young people with fewer opportunities, volunteers will play a crucial role in reaching out to these groups, offering them information and opportunities that may not be readily available to them.
In addition to outreach activities, the volunteers will be tasked with organizing an exhibition about their cultures and countries of origin, providing the local community with the opportunity to learn more about European cultural diversity. They will also organize workshops, fairs and language exchange groups to promote intercultural learning and the development of practical skills.
Part of the activities will include board game sessions, using the two games developed by Check-IN as part of the KA2 projects funded by the European Union. One of the games addresses financial literacy issues, while the other deals with resource management. These sessions will provide a playful and interactive approach to learning important life skills, while promoting cooperation and teamwork among participants.
